School Visits

My phone is ringing
and the fax is going
and sometimes I am sick
(I hope you are not sick!)
and my car needs fixing
and I have to go
to the grocery store
and do the laundry
and clean up messes
and I am supposed to be
writing a new book
which takes a lot of time
to think about and
to write all those little words
and although
I love love love
going to schools
and meeting amazing students
and amazing teachers
I am sorry sorry sorry
to say
that I am not able to do
any more visits
this year.

But but but
if you have my books
you don't need me there
because you already have
the very very very
best part of me.
